Position Available at AOK: Communications & Marketing Specialist

All Our Kids, Inc is a Western MA-based, grassroots, nonprofit organization committed to empowering foster and adoptive families to thrive by enriching community connectedness, providing education and resources, and helping the public understand and support our families’ experiences. After significant growth over the last few years, we have increased awareness of our organization within our community. We are now turning toward increasing public awareness in order to maximize support and engagement from external constituents.
Position Overview
Reporting to the AOK Executive Director, the Communications and Marketing Specialist (CMS) is an 8 hr/week position. In this position, you will help to education the public about AOK, primarily by through strategic outreach and the creation and distribution of promotional, educational and informational materials. The CMS will also work closely with relevant consultants to develop messaging strategies and campaigns to educate the public and our community about our organization and its programming.
Although this is not an internship, AOK welcomes applications from current students, and would be willing to coordinate with the student’s institution for any credit-bearing activities.
Responsibilities
In consultation and/or partnership with AOK Executive Director, external consultants, and other AOK staff:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies, campaigns, and communications.
- Create, edit, and disseminate newsletters, brochures, press releases, and other promotional materials.
- Manage the organization’s social media content across channels.
- Collaborate with all AOK constituents to ensure cohesive messaging and branding across platforms.
- Conduct outreach to local businesses and other stakeholders to maximize awareness, engagement, and support.
- Assist with event planning and coordination.
- Monitor and report on the performance of marketing activities and campaigns, analyzing metrics to drive insights and improve future campaigns.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the AOK Executive Director.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in marketing and communications (specialized education can replace previous experience), and experience with or an interest in understanding the MA foster care system. Previous experience in child welfare would be helpful. Success in the position requires excellent communication skills, strong relationship-building skills, perseverance, flexibility, a positive attitude and a healthy dose of humor. In addition, we are looking for someone who is:
- Highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Able to work with a diverse group of people from all backgrounds
- Able to follow instructions, but also comfortable with independence and taking initiative
- Socially skilled with diverse communities and stakeholders
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and virtual meeting software.
- Able to travel regularly throughout Western Massachusetts
Compensation & Employment Conditions
This is a part-time position, starting at 8 hrs/week, with the opportunity to increase hours over time.
Starting salary is $25/hr and the position is based in our Holyoke, MA office. A partly remote schedule is possible. There are no fringe benefits, but AOK provides a supportive work environment, with an inspiring and fulfilling organizational mission.
