Celebrating Foster Care Awareness Month: Join AOK in Supporting Local Foster Families

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and at All Our Kids (AOK), we’re launching a new community campaign to shine a light on the incredible families who foster and adopt in Western Massachusetts-and the unique challenges they face. Thanks to the generous support of PeoplesBank, we’re excited to invite the public to learn more, get involved, and be part of a growing movement to support children and families in foster care.

You’re Invited: AOK Open House Event

We’re kicking things off with a special Open House on Wednesday, May 7th at 1:00 PM at our Holyoke offices (6 Open Square Way). This is a chance for community members to meet AOK families, tour our space, and see our mission in action. During the event, we’ll also celebrate a generous $2,500 donation from PeoplesBank and hear heartfelt remarks from our board and local foster families.

We Exist To Be The Village

For nearly a decade, AOK has been that “village” for local foster and adoptive families. As our founder and executive director Marianna Litovich puts it: “Whether or not you are part of the fostering community, there is a place for you at our table.” AOK started in 2015 with one mom’s search for community. Marianna had already spent years fostering and adopting when she created a small online group to connect with other caregivers. That group quickly grew, eventually becoming All Our Kids-a nonprofit organization committed to connection, advocacy, and support.

Why This Work Matters

Right now in Western Massachusetts, there are twice as many children in care as there are foster homes available. Many of these children experience instability that can have lasting impacts on their education, emotional health, and future opportunities. AOK works to change that by equipping families with the resources, relationships, and support systems they need to thrive-not just survive. And because we don’t receive state funding, our work is made possible through community donations, volunteers, and champions like you.
