All Our Kids Seeks Executive Director
All Our Kids (AOK) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader committed to the foster and adoptive community in Western Massachusetts to lead our grassroots nonprofit as its new Executive Director.
The Executive Director (ED) runs the day-to-day operations of AOK, which has served foster/adoptive families in the Pioneer Valley for the last eight years. We aim to empower Western Massachusetts foster and adoptive families to thrive with a three-pronged mission that includes: building community connectedness, providing education and resources, and helping the public understand and support our experience. Learn more about our work and history here.
Reporting to and supported by the organization’s Board of Directors, the ED holds responsibility for all organizational operations, fundraising, programming and staffing. Strong candidates will be comfortable taking on a variety of roles (the ED wears many hats!) and be committed to deepening AOK’s connection to the community it serves. Qualified candidates will have experience managing a team in a non-profit organization and a deep dedication to the foster/adoptive community in Western Massachusetts.
AOK offers a competitive salary based on experience, with 30 hours weekly, and an annual salary of $50,000-65,000. We provide a family friendly position with time related benefits and flexibility. This position is based from our office in Holyoke, MA.
We encourage anyone with a deep commitment to foster and adoptive families to apply. Applicants should include a cover letter explaining how experience and qualifications have prepared them for this role.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The key areas of responsibility include the following, all of which must be achieved in keeping with AOK’s vision and mission and are carried out with the support of consultants, contractors and a small part-time staff:
- Leadership: Overseeing all aspects of the organization, implementing strategic plans, meeting organizational goals, leading successful collaboration among staff and board, and working to ensure long-term sustainability of the organization and its programs.
- Fundraising and Development: Ensuring the organization’s financial success, including writing and securing grants, soliciting major individual gifts, procuring sponsorships and stewarding all relationships with funders.
- Financial: Holding all aspects of financial management, including managing income and expenses, creating the annual budget, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state tax filings, financial audits and nonprofit regulations.
- Board Development: Partnering with the board to maintain organizational alignment and keep members apprised of AOK’s regular operations, challenges and issues, as appropriate. The ED supports the Board’s growth and development and acts as a liaison between the board and staff.
- Human Resources: Staffing AOK, including recruitment, hiring, management, retention and implementing HR policies. The ED must also recruit, manage, and retain AOK’s volunteer base, and is the key point of connection with all contractors and consultants.
- Organizational Operations & Technology: Maintaining policies and procedures, overseeing use of space, and navigating technology needs. The ED also ensures that internal policies related to record keeping and other crucial operations are followed.
- Programs and Activities: Overseeing all programs and program staff, including taking a lead role in developing and revising programs, evaluating programs, and ensuring the quality and effectiveness of programs.
- Community Relations and Communication: Serving as the public face of AOK, including attending community events, speaking to the media and generally representing AOK to the public. The ED must develop and maintain strong relationships with AOK’s strategic partners, including donors, stakeholders, partner organizations and the community we serve.
- Compliance and Best Practices: Ensuring effectiveness and minimizing risk, including maintaining compliance with federal and state laws, keeping abreast of industry best practices and striving to ensure that the organization is using these to its abilities.
