Medical costs for all children in state care are covered through Masshealth, our state’s Medicaid program. Although Masshealth is an important resource to ensure our children get their medical (and dental and behavioral health) needs met, the Masshealth system is confusing and can be difficult to navigate. Additionally, foster parents have some requirements around their children’s medical care that you need to know about.

Make sure you read about our Hub Partner, DCF Medical Social Worker, Jessica Coolidge, who oversees all Medical Social Workers in each area office. They are a wealth of support and can often deal with complicated access issues in a matter of hours.
